Unique Classes Designed for Seniors at Collin
August 19, 2005 - Seniors Active In Learning (SAIL), sponsored by Collin County Community College (Collin), is now accepting registrants for the fall semester. Anyone 50 years of age or older, regardless of where they live, may register for SAIL classes at any time during the semester. All classes are held at the Collin’s Courtyard Center for Professional and Economic Development, 4800 Preston Park Blvd. in Plano.
SAIL classes begin Sept. 12. The fall schedule may be found on the Internet at www.collin.edu/ce. Scroll down the right-hand side, click on "Seniors Active in Learning," and choose "Download SAIL Publications." Call (972) 985-3788 to request a catalog.
A one-year membership fee of $25 is required to register for SAIL classes. Tuition is $50 per semester for unlimited courses, or $25 for one course only. Registration is available throughout the semester by mail, fax, phone or in-person at the SAIL office.
SAIL offers an array of classes including history, literature, art, health and safety. Some of the new classes for fall include: Keepsake Writing, Pulitzer Prize Winning Novels of the Civil War, Globalization, Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and the U.S., The Origins of World War II, Red River Originals, How to Make History, Healthy Aging and Beginning Mah Jongg.
The SAIL Roundup, an annual back to school gathering, will be held on Sept. 1 from 1 - 2:30 p.m. in Room B409. Visit friends, greet new members, meet the instructors and pick up a copy of your schedule. Late registration will begin on that date and will continue throughout the semester by phone, mail or walk-in.
