Women In Motion Schedules Women's Business Conference

August 25, 2005 – Collin County Community College (Collin) in cooperation with the Women in Motion program at the Collin County Small Business Development Center (SBDC), will present its first annual Women’s Business Conference from 8:15 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8.

The conference, titled “Be in Business for Yourself, Not By Yourself,” will be at Collin’s Spring Creek Campus Conference Center at 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

The daylong program will feature sessions for women entrepreneurs on leadership skills; marketing, sales and advertising; accounting basics; leasing; certifications; and financing a business.

For women who have not started their businesses or who have been in business less than five years, there will be a brainstorming panel discussion. Plano’s Mayor Pat Evans will be present to welcome conference participants. The luncheon will feature recognition for outstanding women business owners and a presentation by Jeff Crilley, a Dallas Emmy-award-winning reporter, on how to get free publicity for a business.

The event is sponsored by Heritage Bank, Regions Bank, 1st International Bank, Kwik Kopy, Women’s Enterprise (WE) Magazine and Inside Collin County Business.

Women in Motion is a spin off of a successful 10-year program for women entrepreneurs at the Collin County SBDC called Project NEW.

The seminar costs $45 for registration before Friday, Sept. 9, or $55 thereafter. Women business owners can register by going to www.collin.edu/wim.
