Plano College Student Named To All-State Band
December 21, 2005 - Jordan Goldblatt was college-less in late August. Now he is racking up awards at Collin County Community College District (Collin).
The Plano resident was named to the Texas All-State Community College Jazz Band that will perform at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention in San Antonio in February.
Due to hurricane Katrina which ravaged New Orleans and the Gulf Coast, Goldblatt transferred from Loyola University and moved back home and enrolled at Collin.
Goldblatt, who plays baritone saxophone, was able to enroll in all the classes he needed to and has been able to experience a big-band environment.
"It has been great," he said. "I could not have asked for anything more." Goldblatt was one of three Collin students to be named to the all-state group including Young Heo, bass, and Juan Moreno, jazz guitar.
Collin County Community College District (Collin) serves more than 40,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs.
