Collin Gallery Showcases 'Complementarity: Seeing With Another Eye'
"Complementarity: seeing with another eye" is a mixed-media exhibition of artwork from Texas Wesleyan University faculty at the Collin County Community College District THE ARTS gallery.
"Complementarity: seeing with another eye" is a collection of interdisciplinary mixed-media works and will be on display from Thursday, Feb. 16-Thursday, March 9, at the gallery, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. A "gallery talk" about the showcase and concept of "complementarity" is scheduled for 5:15 p.m. and a reception is set for 6 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at the gallery.
According to Texas Wesleyan University art professor Kit Hall, the concept of "complementarity" came from Dr. Stan Rummel, a former Texas Wesleyan University professor and the show's curator. The term refers to how an individual's response to art changes with each viewing and how it can change within the context of the art surrounding it.
An award-winning art catalog for the exhibition will be available that further explains the "complimentarity" concept.
Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m.; Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. For more information about this exhibition and any future exhibitions, visit the gallery's website at www.collin.edu/THEARTSgallery or call 972.881.5873.
