Collin Celebrates International Students
March 20, 2006 -- Collin County Community College District (Collin) will show off its international flair and celebrate cultures of the world on Thursday, March 23. International Day will feature a wide variety of activities that showcase the college's melting pot of students and faculty. All events will be held at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Events are free and open to the public.
Vocal performances from the Collin Chamber Singers & Expressions will kick things off just after noon. A Parade of Nations will take place at 12:15 p.m. Children from the Collin Child Development Lab School will present "This World is My World." African dancers and belly dancers will also open the festivities. At 1 p.m., a fashion show will feature garments and styles from around the world. Other events include a talent show, a fortune teller and an international trivia contest.
Cultural tables and displays from different countries will be present in the Spring Creek Campus atrium from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. International culinary samples also will be available.
International Day is sponsored by the Collin International and Middle Eastern student associations, the International Student Office, Student Life and the Student Activity Fee Allocation Committee.
