Successful Tennis Season Culminates In Award for Coach

Men's and Women's Tennis Coach Marty Berryman was recently awarded the NJCAA Coach of the Year award.

May 30, 2006 - The Collin County Community College District (Collin) tennis program has collected another prestigious award.

Men's and women's head coach Marty Berryman was named the National Junior College Athletic Association's (NJCAA) Coach of the Year recently at the Southfork Hotel.

This is the sixth time Berryman has earned this honor. Berryman led the men's squad to a 13-3 record and finished third in the national following the NJCAA tournament at Collin's Spring Creek Campus. The women's team finished 13-8 and finished sixth in the national tournament. Both squads won their respective Region V tournaments.

In his 17-year career, Berryman has coached four women's and four men's national championship teams and been inducted into the NJCAA Men's and Women's Tennis Hall of Fame.

Collin County Community College District (Collin) serves more than 40,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs.
