June 12 (Plano, TX) - For the second year, the Theatre Department at Collin County Community College (Collin) has offered the Brendan C. Quigley Technical Theatre interns. The seven interns are assisting with the Quad C Theatre and the City of Plano summer production of William Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Oak Point Amphitheater.

"There are 'Summer Stock' theatre programs across the country", said Craig "Yo" Erickson, Director of Technical Theatre. "Many of these start in late May and continue through early September. Many of students can't afford this type of a time commitment. We (Quad C Theatre) are excited about being able to offer local high school and college students the opportunity of being involved in a summer production that gives them some intense training in short period of time that is close to home."

While participating in this internship, the interns will be intricately involved with the mounting of the production. Some of the experience they will gain will be in the areas of building scenery, hanging and focusing lights, building costumes, box office and front-of-house management activities, assistant stage management, light and sound board operating, backstage running crew, dressers and equipment maintenance.

The 2006 interns include Sarah Schniepp (Carrollton), Elisa Sebra and Jeff Boomstein (Dallas), Ashley Sykes (Plano), Sabrina Lambert (Oak Point), Stephanie Clark (Denton) and Katie Chai (Lewisville).

"It's a delight to work with these interns", said Tom Hull, Assistant Technical Director. "All of these interns came to us with strong training from their high school. It's wonderful to instruct the interns in a professional work setting."

Ms. Schniepp is participating in the Internship for the second time. "I learned a lot from Mr. Erickson and Mr. Hull last year", Ms. Schniepp said. "They are awesome! And all the things I learned last summer I was able to apply at my high school."
