Jazz Student Earns Spot on International All-Star Band
November 28, 2006 - A Collin County Community College jazz student has collected another honor.
Plano resident Jordan Goldblatt, a sophomore baritone saxophonist, has been selected as a member of the 2007 International Association for Jazz Education's (IAJE) International All-Star Community College Jazz Band. Goldblatt was one of only 20 selected out of hundreds of applicants worldwide. He was the only baritone saxophonist chosen.
Goldblatt will perform with the band along with acclaimed Lincoln Center trombonist, Wycliff Gordon, at the IAJE International Convention in New York City in January.
Last fall, Goldblatt enrolled at Collin after transferring from Loyola University following the devastation left by hurricane Katrina. He went back to Loyola University in the spring, but decided to return to Collin.
In 2005, Goldblatt was one of three Collin jazz students named to the Texas All-State Community College Jazz Band.
