College Hosts Health and Safety Fair
February 16, 2007 - Collin County Community College District (Collin) will partner with area hospitals to host the inaugural Live Smart! Health and Safety Fair from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, March 2, at the college's Central Park Campus at 2200 W. University Drive in McKinney.
The event is sponsored by Collin, Medical Center of McKinney, Centennial Medical Center, Baylor Regional Medical Center, Medical Center of Plano and Presbyterian Hospital of Plano.
Attendees can participate in proactive health screenings, watch informative health presentations, learn about fire safety and dental hygiene, donate blood and more.
"This is a wonderful collaborative effort between Collin and these local hospitals. The cost of healthcare can be great, and this is an opportunity for people to get diagnostic tests and hear fantastic speakers from area hospitals - all free of charge," said Dr. Linda Adams, Collin wellness program director.
Medical experts will speak on a variety of topics including breast cancer awareness, smoking cessation, stroke, women's health, cardiac health, sports injuries and medical ethics. Free glucose screenings, hearing screenings and body fat testing will be available.
The event is free to the public and will include activities for people of all ages. Attendees can also enter to win door prizes at the event.
