Tech Prep Program Sponsors Job Shadow Event Around County Businesses
March 30, 2007- Collin College provided a group of McKinney North High School seniors a chance to look into their own future March 29.
Eighteen students from Larry Kirk's Tech Prep marketing course at McKinney North High School and participated in a job shadow event sponsored by the Tech Prep program at Collin College.
The job shadow event was an opportunity for local high school students to get a hands-on, full-view perspective on an occupation or field in which they are interested.
The participating businesses include: Raytheon, 97.5 KLAK, Cooper Wellness, Plano Centre, McKinney Regional Airport, Stonebridge Realty, Garden Graphics, McKinney Vision, MPAC, Dr. Simmons at Personal MD, El Dorado Motors, Sharla's , Proactive Chiropractic, Wysong Hospital, Collin County Special Education Cooperative and Collin College.
The Tech Prep program at Collin College is an instructional program that provides high school students flexible pathways to college and a career. In high school, students can earn college credits, which can be used toward an associate's degree or certificate at Collin College. The job shadow event is just another opportunity the program provides in service to the high school students in the county.
