College Hosts Business Lecture with Real Estate CEO
As part of the inaugural Business of Studying Business Guest Lecture, the college will host William (Bill) Bowness, chairman and CEO of Wilbow Corporation Pty. Ltd. based in Melbourne, Australia. The residential development company is currently undertaking a number of projects in Collin County.
Bowness will present "A Personal Entrepreneurial Journey" from 1:15-2 p.m., Monday, April 16 in the Preston Ridge Campus Event Center Room LC104, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Bowness has worked in real estate for more than 30 years in his home country of Australia and the United States. Raised in relative poverty in Brisbane, Queensland in Australia, Bowness worked at a bank after high school and developed his entrepreneurial skills. He eventually earned a bachelor of commerce degree and qualified as a certified property appraiser and certified public accountant.
Bowness specialized in investment banking and was eventually recruited by a real estate firm and began participating in the commercial and residential aspects of real estate on a global scale managing development funds in Australia, Hawaii, California and Arizona. Over the years, he has participated in the Indonesian, New Zealand and Chinese markets.
The lecture is hosted by the college's Business, Information and Engineering Technologies dean and faculty and Preston Ridge Campus Provost, Dr. Belinda Newman.
