May 4, 2007 Again, Collin College is leaving its mark among its peers in the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC).
The college s chapter collected the District III Young Adult Council of the Year during the District III Convention April 21, in Dallas. This year s theme was Partnerships to Unite Our Neighboring North Texas Communities.
In addition, the chapter s advisor, professor Lupita Tinnen, was named the Young Adult Advisor of the Year. Tinnen and the LULAC chapter will compete at the state convention in May.
This is the second year in a row that the Collin College chapter received the Council of the Year award and that the LULAC sponsor received the Advisor of the Year award.
The Young Adult Council of the Year award, according to Tinnen, is awarded to the group that was most active over the last year. In addition, the council must sponsor a youth council. Collin College s LULAC sponsors the group at Centennial High School in Frisco.
The Collin College LULAC has witnessed success before sweeping the 2003 and 2006 national LULAC awards.
