Annual Camp Big Band Welcomes Jazz Luminaries
July 12, 2007 – Those seeking to jazz up their summer can look no further than Collin College.
The college will host its annual Texas All-Star Jazz Camp Sunday-Thursday, July 15-19, which will feature free nightly jazz concerts at the Spring Creek Campus John Anthony Theatre, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. All shows are at 8 p.m.
The keynote performers are Grammy-winning saxophonist Chris Vadala (Chuck Mangione), who will play Monday, July 16; and trombonist, composer and big band leader John Fedchock Thursday, July 19.
The Texas All-Star Jazz Camp Big Band will feature local jazz performers Jay Saunders, Keith Jourdan, Keith Adkins, Mike Burgess, Dan Evans, Dave Von Blohn, Rosana Eckert, A.G. Robeson, Kent Ellingson, Tim Ishii, Tom Burchill, Kevin McNerney and Bobby Breaux, in addition to a number of players from around the country.
The group will be joined by the student big bands for a concert at 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 20.
