Collin College Professors Take On Depression for "Knowledge is Power" Lecture
November 1, 2007 - Collin College opens its 2007-08 Knowledge is Power lecture series Wednesday, Nov. 14 with a talk about depression.
Two Collin College professors, Dr. Salena Brody, professor of psychology, and Dr. John Glass, professor of sociology, will present "Blue Mondays?: Depression, the Brain and Behavior" from 1-2 p.m. at the Preston Ridge Campus Event Center, Room LC104, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco.
The event is free and open to the public.
Dr. Brody will discuss changes in the brain, its affects on behavior and treatment of the condition. Dr. Glass will discuss the extent of depression in the United States and how society's perception of depression has begun to change.
The Knowledge is Power lecture series pairs professors from different academic arenas into one discussion about a topic relevant in global current issues. Past Knowledge is Power lectures have tackled such issues as AIDS and global warming.
