President's Response to Tragedy at Northern Illinois University
As news of the horrific shooting spree at Northern Illinois University broke yesterday, we were again reminded of the incredible grief caused by such a senseless violent act. Collin College deeply mourns this tremendous loss. United through higher education, this tragedy is felt among colleges and universities throughout the nation. The collective prayers of our students, trustees, faculty and staff are with the Northern Illinois University family as well as the families of the victims and those injured.
The Collin College flag will fly at half mast in observance of those who lost their lives or were injured.
A crisis of this magnitude encourages us to reflect on the sanctity of life. The college's vigilant commitment to the safety, security and well-being of our students and employees remains strong.
We send wishes of hope and comfort to President John G. Peters, the students, faculty and staff at Northern Illinois University and to the DeKalb, Illinois community during this time of great sorrow.
