THE ARTS Gallery Schedules Two Summer Shows
Carolyn Helvey's "Dreams of My Mothers, Sisters, Grandmothers" is just one of the pieces on exhibit at THE ARTS gallery during the month of June.
The gallery will host "RANDOM THOUGHTS & curious dreams" from Monday, June 2-30. The exhibit showcases the "Viewpoints 2007 Juried Student Show" Best of Show award winner Carolyn Helvey. The show is a culmination of knowledge and techniques Helvey learned from her art professors at Collin College including ceramic, cast metal, and mixed-media sculptures. A reception for Helvey's show is set for 6 p.m., Thursday, June 12 at the gallery.
Furthermore, the gallery will showcase "Public/Private Space," a photography scholarship show from Monday, July 7-Thursday, July 31. The exhibit features the work of seven Collin College students, who documented their spaces through the lens of a camera. Each artist takes a personal journey and expands his or her perspective. A reception is set for 6 p.m., Friday, July 11.
THE ARTS gallery is located at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. Both exhibits are free and open to the public.
THE ARTS gallery summer hours are: Monday-Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Thursday, 9 a.m.-7 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
