Collin College Offers Personal Trainer Certificate

Januaru 8, 2009 - The new year could be a good time to hire a personal trainer . . . or become one.

Collin College's Continuing Education department is offering a new Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate. The certificate totals 30 hours - 15 in the classroom and 15 at a local fitness center. Sessions are from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. starting Saturday, Feb. 7 through Saturday, March 7. The fee is $679.

According to the U.S. Labor Department, there will be a 40 percent shortage of personal trainers in the country by 2012.

Those interested in the Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate can learn more about it during an information session slated for 11 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Spring Creek Campus, Room I112. The information session is free and open to anyone interested in the program.
