Reminisce at a 1940s Radio Hour Gala

January 26, 2009 - Take a trip back to the golden days of radio at the Collin College Foundation's annual, signature gala fundraiser, 2009 Collin Cabaret.

This year's event will be at 6 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Embassy Suites Frisco Hotel and Convention Center, 7600 John Q. Hammons Drive in Frisco.

"Collin Radio Variety Hour" will showcase the many talents of Collin College students and faculty through song, dance, music and more with a 1940s twist - a nod to the days when families gathered around the warm glow and crackle of their home radios, enjoyed dancing to swing bands in night clubs, or were entertained live in radio studios.

Many more students and faculty are participating through graphic design of the invitations, culinary arts students working with the Embassy Suites chefs for the evening's cuisine, 1940s poster art depicting the educational disciplines offered at the college and student photographers snapping photos of guests milling around 1940s collectors' cars and a fire truck. It is an evening designed to provide scholarships and impact the lives of deserving students.

David McCall with the law firm of Gay, McCall, Isaacks, Gordon & Roberts P.C., is this year's Presenting Partner. He is recognized as the catalyst for this level of sponsorship for the event.

McCall encourages others to join him as sponsors knowing that the proceeds benefit college students needing critical financial assistance with scholarships for the 2009-10 academic year. Scholarships make the difference by educating our community residents who will become leaders, significantly making a difference to improve our economy.

Sponsorships range from $2,500 to $50,000.
