College Invites Public To Volunteer, Service-Learning Fair

April 7, 2009 – Collin College invites the public to the free Volunteer and Service-Learning Fair from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 21, at the Spring Creek Campus Atrium, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, in Plano.

The Volunteer and Service-Learning Fair, which is sponsored by the Center for Scholarly and Civic Engagement, will be an informal informational poster session regarding volunteer and service-learning opportunities for students, faculty and staff. Participants will meet and greet some of Collin College’s community partners and gain helpful insight into their organizations, missions, and service-learning and volunteer opportunities.

A few of the community partners attending the event include LifeTalk, Communities in Schools, Samaritan Care, Dallas Veterans Administration, Volunteer Center of McKinney, Volunteer Center of North Texas, the Department of Aging and Disability Services and the Lion's Club.

Students wishing to engage in service-learning and/or co-curricular volunteer opportunities may use their volunteer/service-learning record when applying for scholarships, career jobs and on applications to four-year higher education institutions.
