Collin College's Seniors Active In Learning Program Schedules July-August Events At Courtyard Campus In Plano

June 29, 2009 – Collin College’s Seniors Active in Learning program invites the public to participate in the following Summer Learning activities from July-August at the Courtyard Center Campus (CYC), 4800 Preston Park Blvd., in Plano.

 Mondays       

  • Attendees can participate in Keepsake Writing from 10 a.m.-noon on July 13 and Aug. 10 in room A216, a Book Discussion Group from 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. on July 6 in room A216 and Afternoon at the Movies from 12:30-3 p.m. on July 6 in room A232.
  • Keepsake Writing is an opportunity for seniors to share their stories while the Book Discussions Group will review “The Painted Veil” by Somerset Maugham and watch the movie version starring Edward Norton and Naomi Watts.

 Tuesdays

  • On Tuesday, July 7 in room A232, seniors can attend Current Events from 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m.     

 Wednesdays

  • From 9-11 a.m. every Wednesday in room A212, participants can play Mah Jongg.  

Thursdays

  • From 9:30-11:30 a.m. through July 30 in room B115, seniors can participate in Celestin’s Café. Celestin’s Café is a discussion class inspired by the exchange of ideas that took place in Athens 2,500 years ago, when Socrates, Sophists and the general populace discussed religion, the gods, politics, art, theater, education, science and technology. The purpose of Celestin’s Café is to provide insight into alternate ways of looking at various ideas, issues and subjects.
