New Facility, New Name On Menu For Collin College Culinary, Hospitality Program
August 28, 2009 – Collin College’s culinary and hospitality program has cooked up something new for the fall 2009.
This semester, the newly minted Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Education is entering a new phase of growth as it moves into a newly renovated facility at the Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco.
The new facility – located within Alumni Hall – totals 9,200 square feet including three teaching kitchens, a classroom/restaurant lab, ingredients room, central dishroom and faculty offices. According to Karen Musa, director of the Institute, a third kitchen will come on line for the spring 2010 semester.
She added that the new facility doubles the amount of space the programs had to work with at their previous homebase at Allen High School. The new facility also will provide opportunities for the culinary and hospitality students to collaborate.
