Essay Writing Workshop Next Up For Destination College

September 10, 2009 – Writing an effective essay when applying to a college or trying to procure scholarships is vital for those entering the world of higher education.

Collin College’s Destination College office wants to help.

A free workshop titled “Writing an Effective Application or Scholarship Essay” is set from 6:30-8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24, at the Preston Ridge Campus Event Center, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco. Registration is required.

The workshop is open to parents or students looking to get tips and direction as they prepare for higher education whether it’s at Collin College or other colleges and universities. It will cover helpful strategies and tips of writing a clear and concise application or scholarship essay.

The workshop will be led by Marilyn Kaufman, president of College Admission Consultants. Kaufman has counseled high school students on college admission and college students on career choices for more than 10 years. She has presented workshops to faculty and professional staff for Region 10 and frequently presents educational and counseling programs for parents and students in the north Texas. Kaufman chaired the College Admissions program for parents at St. Mark's School of Texas. In addition, Kaufman serves on The Princeton Review National College Counselor Advisory Board.
