College Official Honored With Education Award
October 15, 2009 – A Collin College official was honored by the Plano Community Forum during its 28th annual Awards Banquet.
Dr. Barbara Money, vice president of Student Development, was named the Educator of the Year by the Plano Community Forum Oct. 3.
"I am very honored to receive such a prestigious award from the Plano Community Forum. I have been very fortunate to have had the support of Collin College in providing me many opportunities to offer educational support in the community and our college. With so many outstanding educators in our community I am humbled and appreciative of this recognition," Dr. Money said.
Prior to her employment at Collin College, Dr. Money was employed at the University of Arizona and The University of Texas at Dallas as part of their student development staff. She started at Collin College in January 1986 and has worked in a variety of positions, including that of associate faculty.
Dr. Money holds a doctorate from Capella University, a master’s of education from the University of Arizona and a bachelor of science from Langston University.
The Plano Community Forum, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, provide scholarship opportunities for graduating minority students in Plano and promote cultural enrichment within the community.
Collin College serves more than 46,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs. The only public college in the county, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
