IHCE Sets Orientation Dates

October 29, 2009 – The Institute for Hospitality and Culinary Education has scheduled a number of student orientations from November through January.

Attending at least one orientation is required for any student interested in taking a culinary or pastry arts lab class.

The orientations are scheduled for:

  • 6 p.m., Monday, November 16
  • 1 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20
  • 6 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 2
  • 1 p.m., Friday, Dec. 4
  • 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5
  • 6 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 5
  • 6 p.m., Monday, Jan. 11

All orientations will be at the Preston Ridge Campus Alumni Hall, Room A150. The campus is located at 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco.

Students completing the Culinary Arts program at Collin College will be qualified for a variety of hands-on food preparation positions and career advancement in the food service industry. The curriculum emphasizes a broad selection of hands-on food preparation courses, building on culinary foundation skills that will allow the student to be effective in a commercial kitchen environment. The curriculum is designed by industry experts and taught by experienced food service management professionals.

The program includes an associate of applied science degree and certificates in culinary arts and pastry arts.

In the fall of 2009, the program changed its name to the Institute for Hospitality and Culinary Education and opened its new state-of-the-art facility at the Preston Ridge Campus.
