University Leaders Sign Higher Education Center Agreement

November 10, 2009 – Leaders of some of the foremost higher education institutions in the area convened at Collin College’s Central Park Campus Nov. 9 to make history in Collin County.

Dr. J. Robert Collins, chair of the Collin College Board of Trustees, Dr. Cary Israel, president of Collin College, Dr. David Daniel, president of The University of Texas at Dallas, Dr. Gretchen M. Bataille, president of the University of North Texas, Dr. Dan Jones, president and CEO of Texas A&M University-Commerce, Dr. Ann Stuart, chancellor and president of Texas Woman’s University, and Dr. Gary Cook, president of Dallas Baptist University, formally signed an agreement setting the stage of the Collin Higher Education Center’s opening in January.

The center will be a hub for higher education located at the intersection of Central Expressway and State Hwy. 121 in McKinney where the five universities will provide junior- and senior-level college classes in addition to master and doctoral programs.

The programs proposed by the universities were approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board Oct. 29.
