Collin Theatre Center Honors Poe With Free Play
November 11, 2009 – The Collin Theatre Center is hosting a free production of the play Dream, written and directed by Jon Christie.
Performances are slated for 8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 20, Saturday, Nov. 21 and Monday, Nov. 23. Matinee performances are set for 2:15 p.m., Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 21-22. All performances are free and open to the public.
Dream will be in the ALT Lab Theatre located at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.
Dream honors the works of Edgar Allen Poe. It follows an employee of a struggling café – The Raven – who decides to put on a talent show to hopefully save the café. She depends on the talents of a rap artist, a beatnik and an ordinary guy.
The play is held in conjunction with Collin College’s Book-in-Common program, which welcomed best-selling author Matthew Pearl in October to talk about his novel The Poe Shadow, which described the fictional circumstances behind and following Poe’s mysterious death in 1849.
