Destination College Parents Workshop Covers Basics Of Higher Education

January 21, 2010 – Going to college is not just complicated and tough for students. It can be equally stressful and worrisome for parents.

Destination College -- a Collin College initiative that helps high school students and their parents to get ready for college, no matter which institution they choose – will host its annual Parent Workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 4, at the Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano.

The Parent Workshop is free and open to any parent of a prospective college student no matter where the student plans to attend.

This popular workshop will provide parents with the essentials of planning and preparing for their students’ college experience. The fast-paced sessions, presented by a variety of speakers, will cover practical parenting concerns, financial aid resources and terminology, as well as strategies for a successful admissions process.

Dinner will be provided. Attendees will receive a copy of the 2010 Parent Resource Guide.

This event is one of a series of workshops scheduled to help high school students prepare for college. Visit www.collin.edu/gettingstarted/explore/destinationcollege/ for a complete schedule.
