2010 Collin Cabaret Set For Friday, April 9

March 12, 2010 – As Collin College celebrates its 25th anniversary, guests at 2010 Collin Cabaret, the Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Benefit Gala, will be entertained with “A Silver Tribute to Excellence in Education.”

This year’s Collin Cabaret will be held at 6:45 p.m., Friday, April 9, at the Marriott Legacy Town Center, 7120 Dallas Parkway, in Plano.

“A Silver Tribute to Excellence in Education” will thematically showcase Collin College’s 25 years of educating the community. The evening will also further highlight the gifted talents of Collin College students, alumni and faculty through song, dance and music, making this an entertaining night to remember, while helping to provide scholarships that impact the lives of deserving students.

Guests will also be treated to the talents and return of Shilah Phillips, a Collin College alumnae, Miss. Texas 2006 and Miss America runner-up, accompanied by the Shilah Phillips Band.

Cabaret partners believe in the mission of the Foundation and encourage others to join them to increase funds available to benefit college students who are in need of critical financial assistance.  Proceeds from this year’s Cabaret will be awarded for the upcoming 2010-2011 academic year. Scholarships will help educate future leaders of our community.

Collin College Foundation raises funds annually to support students attending Collin College with financial assistance through scholarships.  Collin College’s funding is primarily through tax dollars; however, tax dollars cannot fund scholarships.  Scholarship needs are critical and increase annually.  Without the valued support of individuals, corporations and foundations, scholarships cannot be provided, hence the needed skill sets that keep our communities strong will be lost.

Collin College serves more than 46,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degree and certificate programs. The only public college in the county, Collin College is a partner to business, government and industry, providing customized training and work force development.
