Collin College LULAC Takes Home State Awards, Eyes Nationals

June 30, 2010 – Collin College’s chapter of the League for United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) took home a pair of awards from the state convention June 2-6 in Austin.

Jesus Valdivia, a resident of Allen and LULAC chapter president, was named the LULAC Young Adult Man of the Year.

Lupita Tinnen, a resident of Plano and professor of photography, was named the Young Adult Advisor of the Year.

Eight members of the Collin College chapter attended the state convention. The group will move on to compete for recognition at the national convention slated for July 12-17 in Albuquerque.

The Collin College LULAC has witnessed success before. At the state level, the college’s chapter has taken over the Advisor of the Year award six times, the Council of the Year, Man of the Year and Woman of the Year three times.
