Collin College LULAC Grabs Three Awards At National Convention

July 27, 2010 – Collin College’s chapter of the League for United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) scored a trio of awards in front of a national audience.

Jesus Valdivia, chapter president, was named the LULAC Young Adult National Man of the Year and Lupita Tinnen, professor of photography, was named the Young Adult National Advisor of the Year at the national convention July 12-17 in Albuquerque.

Collin College also won for Best Young Adult Scrapbook.

Since 2003, Collin College’s LULAC chapter has won the National Man of the Year three times and National Advisor of the Year five times, including when Tinnen was bestowed the award in 2007.

Collin College won the National Woman of the Year three times and twice was named the National Council of the Year.

In 2006, the Collin College LULAC swept the national awards taking home the Man, Woman, Advisor and Council of the Year honors.
