Collin College’s Sail Program Schedules July Events

June 21, 2011 – Thought-provoking discussions, storytelling, games, movies and more. Participants in this year’s Collin College Seniors Active in Learning summer program will have plenty of activities to choose from during July.

The following activities – sponsored by Collin College’s Continuing Education – are free and meet at Collin College’s Courtyard Center for Professional and Economic Development, 4800 Preston Park Blvd. in Plano, unless otherwise noted.

MONDAYS
Book Discussion Group: 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

  • July 11 – “The Unbearable Lightness of Being” by Milan Kundera

Afternoon at the Movies: 12:30-3 p.m., July 11. Movies begin at 1 p.m.

TUESDAYS
Mah Jongg: 9:30-11:30 a.m., July 5 and July 12 – Students should already know the rules of the game; some recent experience is desirable.

Genesis: 11 a.m.-12:20 p.m. July 5 and July 12 – Dr. Prager will look at how rabbinic commentary attempted to amplify and explain the Biblical text.

History Movie Series: 1-3:30 p.m.

  • July 5 and July 12 – “Piece of Cake I and II”

WEDNESDAYS
History Series: 1-3 p.m.

  • July 6 – “Turning Points in the Civil War”
  • July 13 – “From Springfield to Ft. Sumter”

THURSDAYS
Subconscious Storytelling: 1-2:30 p.m. July 14 (writers are encouraged to explore the unconscious elements of story crafting).
