Continuing Education Offers Ophthalmic Assistant, Optician Training, Contact Lens Technician Courses

Aug. 24, 2011 – Collin College’s Continuing Education will begin offering Ophthalmic Assistant and Optician Training courses on Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Wednesday, Sept. 7, respectively, at the Courtyard Center in Plano.

Both courses are 80 hours and include a 20-hour lab. The Ophthalmic Assistant course and lab prepares students to take the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) exam upon completion of the course while the Optician Training class prepares students to take the American Board of Opticianry (COA) exam to become an optician assistant to interpret and analyze an eyeglass prescription.

In addition to these two courses, a Contact Lens Technician class will also start on Wednesday, Sept. 7. The 50-hour course, which includes a 20-hour lab, prepares students to take the National Contact Lens Examiners (NCLE) exam.
