Collin College CE Offers New Basic Mediation Certificate

Sept. 6, 2011 – Collin College Continuing Education is offering a new Basic Mediation Certification this fall.

The series totals four classes from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting Sept. 20-Nov. 10. The cost is $299. All courses will be at the Courtyard Center, 4800 Preston Park Blvd. in Plano.

This Basic Mediation Certificate Series provides necessary education, training and skill development for students to be able to serve as a neutral third-party court-appointed mediator.

Use hands-on techniques and examine case studies to understand the distinct styles of mediation and the mediation process. Learn to work in diverse settings and explore the basic structure of conflict and how to overcome it.

These courses will meet the 40 hour exam requirement per Texas State Law Section 154.052.  The courses will also meet the Standards of the Texas Alternative Dispute Resolution Procedures Act (Texas ADR).

A review for the Texas Mediator in Conflict Management and Dispute Resolution License Exam is included.
