Continuing Education Offers Healthcare Pharmacy Tech Certification Preparation

Sept. 19, 2011 – Collin College’s Continuing Education will offer two Pharmacy Technician Certification Preparation courses beginning on Monday, Oct. 3 or Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Courtyard Center, 4800 Preston Park Blvd., in Plano.

These instructor led 50-hour courses prepare students to enter the pharmacy field and take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam.

Course content includes medical terminology specific to the pharmacy, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and brand names. Students will learn dosage calculations, I.V. flow rates, dose conversions, dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.
