Collin College's Continuing Education Offers Solar Installer Training

Nov. 21, 2011 – Collin College’s Continuing Education is hosting a 40-hour entry-level Solar Design and Installation course from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5-Friday, Dec. 9 at the Courtyard Center, 4800 Preston Park Blvd., in Plano.

Tuition for the course is $1,595. Those who complete the course will qualify to sit for the NABCEP PV Entry Level exam.

The course will provide students with basic knowledge of solar photovoltaic (PV) cells, modules, and system components; electrical circuits; PV system design, estimation, and code requirements; solar electric products and applications; an understanding of energy conversion from sunlight to electricity, and how to install systems safely. The course is designed for all learners.

In addition, the course focuses on real-world, practical learning and includes classroom and lab experiences while hands-on labs include the site survey, mechanical and electrical installation and safety.
