ZZZZZ: Lecture Focuses on Sleep, Productvity
April 11, 2011 – Light will be shed on one of humanity’s greatest questions Wednesday, April 25: “Do you lose if you snooze?”
The Knowledge is Power lecture series at Collin College will tackle the connection between sleep and productivity at the workplace, home and school from 1-2 p.m. at the Preston Ridge Campus Conference Center, Section E, 9700 Wade Blvd. in Frisco.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
“Do You Lose If You Snooze?: The Effect of Sleep Deprivation on Productivity” will be presented by Dr. Christine DeLaTorre, professor of business management at Collin College, and Amber Allen, program coordinator of the new Polysomnographic Technology program at Collin College.
Allen will discuss the effects of sleep deprivation on the regulation of human physiology, the occurrences of sleep deprivation and tips for improving sleep. Dr. DeLaTorre will offer a brief summary of how sleep deprivation affects business productivity and how lack of adequate sleep leads to billions of dollars in losses annually for American businesses.
A question-and-answer session will follow the lecture.
