Chefstravaganza, Stroke Of Genius Art Auction To Anchor Collin College 2012 Scholarship
April 19, 2012 – The Collin College Board of Trustees, District President Cary Israel and the Collin College Foundation Board of Directors invite the public to experience the finale events in the 2012 Scholarship Support Event Series with “ChefStravaganza” set for 6 p.m., Thurs, April 26 at the college’s Preston Ridge Campus in Frisco and the “Stroke of Genius Art Auction” at 6 p.m., Thurs., May 3 at Neiman Marcus at The Shops at Willow Bend in Plano.
The series benefits Collin College student scholarships and was designed to showcase the talents of students. Even though Collin College has the lowest tuition in the state of Texas, more than 24,000 students applied for financial aid and scholarships this year. Raising scholarships for those students is the mission of the Collin College Foundation, which organized the series.
At ChefStravaganza, guests will be treated to a dazzling spread of the finest cuisine from student chefs in Collin College’s Institute of Hospitality and Culinary Education. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the official kitchens of the culinary institute and sample exotic hors d’oeuvres, delectable pastries and desserts as well as cuisines and culinary delights from around the world.
The Stroke of Genius Art Auction will put fine art on the auction block with original art donated by faculty, students and local artists up for bid. Auction items include one-of-a-kind paintings, sculptures, photography and mixed-media works as well as graphic prints and ceramic creations. Guests will be able to mingle with the artists during live and silent auctions at Neiman Marcus while enjoying cuisine courtesy of NOSH Euro Bistro.
Both events will include live music performed by Collin College student musicians.
