Collin College Honors Veterans with Weeklong Activities
Nov. 1, 2012 – In honor of Veterans Day and the many sacrifices the military servicemen and servicewoman have made for this country, Collin College invites the public to participate in weeklong activities held on its campuses beginning Monday, Nov. 5.
Such activities include a Letter Writing Campaign, along with Sheets for Soldiers (benefiting Operation Once in a Lifetime) and Blue Star Mothers donation drives. The public will also be able to participate in a U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Celebration at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 9 in the Preston Ridge Campus Alumni Hall Gym.
In addition to the aforementioned public activities, Collin College’s students, faculty and staff will also honor its veterans internally with a luncheon on each campus on Friday, Nov. 9. Collin College students will also have an opportunity to watch the movie Battle of Marjah at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8 in PRC’s Founders Hall (F249).
Veterans Day activities will be held at the Central Park Campus, 2200 W. University Drive, McKinney, Preston Ridge Campus, 9700 Wade Blvd., Plano and Spring Creek Campus, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano.
Veterans Day is sponsored by the Center for Scholarly and Civic Engagement, Collin Serves, Student Life, Collin Counseling Services, Access Office, and Student Veterans of America Collin College.
