Refuge takes the audience on the journey of young woman forced to care for her siblings after suffering a loss. A drifter enters the family relationship and the story of four young lives is told with honesty and originality. Can this drifter help this family’s bleak outlook on life and provide the refuge from reality they are seeking, or does the drifter only add to the family’s dysfunction?

Goldberg was awarded the Susan Smith Blackburn prize for playwriting for Refuge, and according to the Houston Chronicle, “The dialogue is fresh and true…Goldberg has a flair for the quirky non-sequitur conversation.”

Refuge contains adult language and situations and is not suitable for children.
