Collin College Hosts Microsoft Office for Mac Users
May 14, 2013 - Most professional jobs interact with Microsoft Office Suite daily. With the growing popularity of Mac products, users must be educated in the compatible Microsoft Office 2011.
Catering to this need, Collin College will host a new section of Computers and Technology that will focus on Microsoft Office for the Mac (COSC 1031.3S1). The credit course will first be offered from June 11 to August 17, during the Summer III session. Another section will be offered during the fall semester.
Robert Benavides, professor of computer systems, said this course will be extremely applicable to anyone continuing their education or wanting to enter professional employment.
“Look up any internship related to business, economics or information systems, and you’ll see that Microsoft Office is required,” Benavides said. “Plus, it’s just plain fun working with Macs.”
Since Microsoft Office for the Mac does not have a database program, students will utilize an open source program, Libre Office, to learn vital database concepts.
Classes will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Spring Creek Campus Mac Lab, J121. A departmental permit is required for enrollment in this course. It can be obtained by contacting Professor Benavides at email@example.com.
