Collin College Honors Staff

August 16, 2013 – Two Collin College staff members received the Recognition of Service and Excellence (ROSE) Award for providing exemplary service to the college community in the past year.

Russell (Rusty) Bishop, of McKinney, received the full-time Recognition of Service and Excellence (ROSE) award and Carole Ann Kaplan, of Plano, received the part-time ROSE award. This honor recognizes consistent application of the college's core values through service to the college, staff, students and/or public by Collin College employees.

Bishop, who received his associate degree from Collin College, is an American Sign Language interpreter and has been a college employee for nearly nine years. “Service to our students, professors and staff is my No. 1 priority when I step foot on campus each day,” Bishop said.

Kaplan works as a testing clerk at the Preston Ridge Campus Testing Center in Frisco and has been a college employee for three years. “I always place the student’s and staff’s needs paramount,” Kaplan said. “I know that every student who comes through our testing center door has his or her own personal story.”

Other finalists for the ROSE Award included Gary Hodge, dean of social and behavioral sciences; Charlene Johnson, administrative assistant; J’Anna Mann, administrative assistant; Gloria Tyler, administrative assistant; and Leonorah (Leah) Whitehead, clerk typist.
