Collin College Students Named to All-Texas Academic Honor Team

March 11, 2014 – Three students from Collin College were named to the 2014-2015 All-Texas Academic Team of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), an international honor society for community college students.  Nominees are selected based on academic achievement, school involvement and community involvement. Rankings on the team are determined by a national competition.

Alexa Acosta

Alexa Acosta of Plano plans to transfer to Southern Methodist University (SMU) and major in marketing and business. She is the vice president of leadership for PTK at Collin College and a member of Lion’s Club and the League of United Latin American Citizens.
Jasmine Beal

Jasmine Beal

Jasmine Beal of Dallas has been accepted to Baylor University and University of Texas at Arlington. She plans to major in social work with a pre-medicine track and aspires to be a social worker and psychiatrist. Beal is the vice president of scholarship for PTK at Collin College, vice president of the Black Student Organization and a member of Psi Beta Psychology Honor Society.
Michelle Davis

Michelle Davis

Michelle Davis of Allen plans to transfer to SMU and major in accounting before attending law school to become a tax attorney. She is the current president of PTK at Collin College and has served as a student government senator and active member in Political Science Club and the award-winning mock trial team. Davis was named an Emerging Scholar in accounting and government.

Last year, five Collin College students were named to the All-Texas Academic Team. The ceremony to recognize the team will be held in Austin on March 28.

Collin College serves nearly 53,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a wide range of disciplines.
