Collin College Hosts Health and Information Professional Development Conference

June 30, 2014- Featuring instructors from the National Network of Libraries of Medicine and the South Central Region's Regional Medical Library, Collin College will host a professional development conference for health and information professionals July 10-12 at its Central Park Campus in McKinney, 2200 W. University Drive.

The conference will include sessions focused on a range of areas, including legal issues, public health, grant and proposal writing, National Library of Medicine publications and environmental issues.

Collin College Librarian Bobbie Long said health literacy plays an important role in health care.

"Individuals need to know how to find understandable and valid health information and use that information to make good decisions about health and medical care," Long said. "This conference highlights the electronic resources created by the National Library of Medicine and National Institute of Health that are available for librarians and other information professionals to use with their patrons."
