Collin College Holds White Ribbon Rally

September 29, 2014 – To help combat family violence, Collin College is partnering with the Collin County Council on Family Violence (CCCFV), an initiative of the Junior League of Collin County, to host a special presentation and the 2nd Annual White Ribbon Rally from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 2 at the Preston Ridge Campus Conference Center located at 9700 Wade Blvd, Frisco. This event is free and open to the public.

Beginning at 5:30 p.m., Dr. Jackson Katz, one of America's leading anti-sexist male activists, will present his groundbreaking work in the field of gender violence prevention education and critical media literacy.

Following this presentation, men will have the opportunity to take a stand against violence and abuse in all its forms. The rally will close with former NBA coach Del Harris leading the men of Collin County in the White Ribbon pledge

This event is a part of the Collin College Dignity Initiative, a multi-year effort sponsored by the Collin College Committee Against Gender Violence and Oppression. Through a partnership with the ongoing efforts of the CCCFV, these groups have produced an event that will educate the campus and larger community about violence against women and empower everyone with specific action steps to end the oppression of women.
