Oct. 15, 2015 – Collin College’s Dental Hygiene program offers services including cleanings, dental exams, x-rays, oral cancer screenings and sealants to the community at a significantly reduced price.

Dental screenings are free for all patients and teeth cleaning services start at just $10 for children 12 years old and younger or $20 for patients ages 13 and older. Sealants are available for all ages at $5 per quadrant.

The clinic has been open to the public since 1997 and serves as an educational tool for the college’s dental hygiene students. All students are accompanied by faculty and supervising dentists when performing procedures.

“There are so many people that are in need of dental and dental hygiene care,” Dental Hygiene Director Christine McClellan said. “We can educate them on what is going on in their mouth and how it correlates to their overall health.”

McClellan said that the clinic does not do dental work, but noted that the supervising dentist can identify problem areas and can guide patients to local clinics where other work can be performed. She said that many times patients need to have their teeth cleaned before any dental work is done and the clinic can be a first stop for better oral health.

The clinic is located at the Central Park Campus, 2200 W. University Drive in McKinney. Clinic hours vary from semester to semester. For more information or to make an appointment, call the Dental Hygiene Clinic at 972.548.6537.
