Collin College Hosts Peacebuilding Expert

March 8, 2017- Collin College will host Advancing Peacebuilding Through Global Education from 11-11:50 a.m., Wednesday, March 22 at the college’s Spring Creek Campus Living Legends Conference Center, 2800 E. Spring Creek Parkway in Plano. In this session, participants will engage in experiences which promote global peacebuilding, awareness and skills enhancement.

Free and open to the public, the peacebuilding workshop features David J. Smith, a renowned global education and conflict resolution expert. This U.S. Fulbright Scholar has more than 30 years of experience as an educational consultant, lawyer, professor, trainer and former senior program officer and coordinator of national outreach at the U.S. Institute of Peace.

A consummate speaker, Smith has given more than 500 talks on peacebuilding, conflict resolution and international education. Author of the book Peace Jobs: A Student’s Guide to Starting a Career Working for Peace, Smith is the president of the Forage Center for Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Education, Inc., a nonprofit which offers experiential learning opportunities.

Collin College serves more than 53,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates.
