Collin College Honored for Financial Reporting

October 26, 2017 – Collin College has been honored with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 20th year in a row.

The certificate of achievement, which is awarded by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA), is the highest form of recognition offered in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The honor is based on an organization’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR), which is judged by an impartial panel to determine that it meets the industry’s highest standards, including clear communication of the organization’s financial story.

“Collin College’s administrative services department works diligently to effectively meet the district’s financial needs in the most transparent manner possible, consistently providing the public with a clear picture of the state of our college,” Chief Financial Officer Ken Lynn said. “I am honored to work with such a dedicated group of individuals.”

The college district has received the certificate of achievement every year since 1997, an achievement which was recognized at the Collin College Board of Trustees meeting, Oct. 24. The district’s administrative services department employees, both current and past, were honored with a resolution noting the preparation and hard work involved in meeting the GFOA’s reporting requirements for two decades.

Collin College serves more than 53,000 credit and continuing education students annually and offers more than 100 degrees and certificates in a wide range of disciplines.
