Collin College Nursing Program Named Center of Excellence for Nursing Simulation

November 29, 2017 – Collin College has been recognized as a National Center of Excellence for Nursing Simulation by CAE Healthcare. The recognition marks the second designation as a Center of Excellence for the college’s nursing program, which has been a National League for Nursing Center of Excellence in Nursing Education since 2011.

Donna Hatch, dean of nursing at Collin College, said the college was honored by the most recent Center of Excellence designation.

“Simulation is an integral part of our students’ education, and as such, we are elated to earn this Center of Excellence designation recognizing the time and effort our staff puts into that training,” Hatch said.

Dr. Robert Amyot, president of CAE Healthcare, explained that the Center of Excellence (CoE) designation is given to institutions which exemplify best practices in the use of simulation-based training to improve patient care.

“A CoE promotes excellence in teaching and learning through the use of CAE Healthcare technology and associated learning systems, curriculum and content,” Amyot said. “The CoE designation recognizes leaders on the cutting edge of health care simulation who are driven by a pioneering vision to advance simulation and evidence-based outcomes.”
