The Central Park Campus library is featured in the April issue of American Library Association’s journal, American Libraries. The Central Park Campus library is one of 17 libraries featured in the journal’s annual architectural issue.

The Collin College men's tennis team won the 2010 NJCAA Men’s National Championships May 10-14. Their first division I title, the Cougars tied Tyler Junior College and Laredo Community College.

The Cougar men’s tennis team won the NJCAA Region V Championships for the 24th straight season. The women’s squad finished second in the Region V tournament.

Collin College’s publication “New Student Orientation Newsletter” has received the 2009 Publication and Media Showcase Award for Outstanding Newsletter from the National Orientation Directors Association.

Texas Woman’s University presented Collin College with a Certificate of Appreciation for participating in TWU’s new degree partnership program in Culinary Science. The partnership offers an opportunity for those completing an associate of applied sciences in culinary arts to enroll at TWU and earn a bachelor of applied sciences (BAS) in culinary science and food management.

The Bridges to the Baccalaureate (BRIDGES) program has been renewed for three more years. The program is a National Institute of Health funded initiative designed to encourage minority students to pursue an undergraduate degree in some field of biomedical sciences. The grant was awarded to Texas Woman’s University and Collin is one of three participating community colleges

The Purchasing Office has received the Achievement in Excellence in Procurement Award from the National Purchasing Institute. This is the fourth consecutive year that Collin has received the award. Collin College is one of only 21 higher education agencies in the United States to receive the award.

The Tech Prep program is noted in the publication “Cultivating Success: Tech Prep Best Practices Across the United States” from the National Association for Tech Prep Leadership. The program was sited for best practices of innovative delivery, accountability/data collection and career development.

Collin College took home two Successful Transfer Enhancement Programs (STEP) awards for its pre-admission program at the Texas Transfer Success Conference May 22. The program won bronze in both the Student Services and Development and Collaboration Between Two- and Four-Year Colleges categories.

Collin College President Cary Israel was recently awarded the prestigious Special Award of Merit from the Plano Chamber of Commerce.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has designated Collin College’s child development, nursing and real estate programs as having exemplary status.
