About 75 local children received free dental treatments and 27 Collin College dental hygiene students received invaluable service experience at the Give Kids A Smile event Jan. 30. Give Kids a Smile provides free basic dental healthcare for underprivileged Collin County children. Collin College dental hygiene students teamed with local dentists and other professionals in providing X-rays, teeth polishing and cleaning, and sealants.

About 20 Collin College students, staff and professors partnered with Habitat for Humanity to paint the interior of a house and build a fence for a duplex on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Collin College students from several organizations including Volunteer Outreach In Civic Engagement (VOICE), Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE), Student Government Association (SGA) and Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) were involved in the project.

More than 2,000 attendees of local high school football games registered for scholarship drawings during the college’s recent Gridiron Blitz. President Cary Israel, board members, faculty and staff attended games and helped register participants.
